Quality water heating on tap

Article Abstract:

The Electricity Association has successfully established its Maxistore electric immersion heaters on the market and expects demand to rise with an improvement in the economy and associated revival in the home improvement and housing markets. The immersion heaters, controllers, copper cylinders and combination units that carry the Maxistore trade mark all comply with an electricity supply industry specification and satisfy the requirements of a Quality Assurance Scheme operated by the British Standards Institution (BSI). Maxistore product descriptions are presented.

The quest for quality

Article Abstract:

Electrical contractors should follow a nine-point plan to achieve high standards. Complaints should be used as a basis for improvement, while electricians should be responsible for their own work standards through self inspection. Other suggestions include staff training, good process control management and good communication within the team.

The new quality management standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 aims to achieve a balance between procedures and competencies. The key issues addressed are management responsibility, quality management systems, product realization and resource management. There is a requirement for continuous improvement, and more emphasis on top management.
