Quantitative quality descriptors for an open-heart program

Article Abstract:

An objective standard for evaluating quality assurance programs for open-heart surgical service has been developed. Application of the proposed standard requires a mortality reporting system, a risk scale and database for cardiac surgeries, methods for statistical analysis of cardiac surgical services data and formulation of managerial reports. Health care providers can institute these requirements to come up with an assurance program that can reconcile quality service and reasonable cost.
