Should You Buy That Test Equipment?
Article Abstract:
Automatic test equipment (ATE) may be available to help in one or more of these ways: (1) increase testing speed; (2) increase testing accuracy; (3) cut analysis time; O and (4) cut testing labor rates. In general, the more helpful the ATE the more costly to procure it. If ATE results in more faults caught before products reach end users, field service costs may be reduced substantially. A diagram illustrates recycling for repair. An example is based on a document that explains cost justification of ATE for memory and logic circuit boards. A chart of the total annual test cost, and present and proposed methods for the logic circuit boards example is provided.

Code for checking business equipment
Article Abstract:
The Association of the Electronics, Telecommunications and Business Equipment Industries (EEA) has produced a code of practice for the carrying out of periodic safety checks on business equipment. Contractors are told that they should not carry out all the test themselves, some of these needing to be done by the user. Physical and electrical inspection are involved, including routine examination for obvious physical and fire damage, overheating symptoms, and proximity to and effect of liquids and other foreign substances. Frequency of such tests is recommended according to usage and likely damage.

Shedding light on UV test equipment
Article Abstract:
Utraviolet light (UV) equipments such as UV lamps, UV tracers, UV-test meters and protective UV eyewear are indispensable in the manufacturing industry. With their unique features, the tools enable human beings to see things that cannot be detected by the naked eye. Since choosing UV equipments is not difficult, special skills are likewise unnecessary in using the products. Companies, however, should check first the list provided by the Underwriter's Laboratories in the US or the Canadian Standards Ass before making the purchase.
