Size boosts confidence
Article Abstract:
The electrical industry in France is buoyant despite the recession which has hit the country in the 1990s. It is the fourth largest in terms of sales in the world and has grown at a rate of six percent annually between 1985 and 1990. In 1991 its exports grew by 11% although domestic growth fell back. Among the leading companies are Schneider group and Legrand which have been expanding through acquisition into foreign markets. GEC Alsthom and Cegelec are also large and successful.

Shoebox-size vehicles spark excitement
Article Abstract:
The 9th Annual AIChE National ChemE-Car Competition was held alongside the AIChE's Annual Meeting and National Student Conference. Cooper Union from New York City, which used a mixture of baking soda and vinegar in its shobox-size vehicle, won the competition. The results of the competition are reported, and other winners are presented.

The development of varied width conveyor rollers is described. The new product makes use of extruded aluminium or PVC rollers, which can be cut to width, saving warehouse space and costs.
