Solving the documentation dilemma
Article Abstract:
The flowchart responsibility matrix (FCRM) offers concise and accurate documentation procedure and solves the documentation dilemma for obtaining compliance to ISO 9000. The FCRM is a three-part document that integrates a flowchart, a matrix of clearly defined tasks and responsibilities and a short descriptive written procedure. It can be applied to procedures such as new product development and raw material approval or replacement. It facilitates the processes of streamlining, updating and improving organizational procedures. The guidelines and steps for designing an FCRM are described.

Measuring performance after meeting award criteria
Article Abstract:
A survey by the General Accounting Office (GAO) has revealed that companies which employed Total Quality Management (TQM) practices demonstrated significant improvements in performance, although on average significant results were noted after 2.5 years. The survey concluded that companies which had been awarded the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award did not necessarily perform any better than other companies.
