The break quantity rule's effect on inventory costs in a 1-warehouse, N-retailers distribution system
Article Abstract:
The effect of the break quantity rule on the inventory costs of a single-warehouse, N-retailers distribution system has been studied. The break quantity deals with the delivery of large orders from the warehouse and small orders from the nearest retailer. Results indicate that cost reduction is significantly influenced by the number of retailers, the warehouse-retailer lead time and the variability of the order sizes. It has also been observed that large orders are better for the three parameters concerned.

The impact of EDI on interorganizational integration
Article Abstract:
The transfer format serves as the common standard for differentiating open and closed Electronic data interchange (EDI) solutions. Open EDI fosters market coordination by engaging lower market transaction costs and enabling the ready accessibility of more partners. Nonetheless, local adaptations launched with the EDI system, either involving the technical framework or business processes, will play at least an equally crucial part.

Inventory and enterprise integration
Article Abstract:
A model of inventory planning and control is significantly enhanced by the use of appropriate software tools such as the UNISON, short for the University of Nottingham Integrated System Organisation using Nets. This software helps in the analysis and decisionmaking on various manufacturing system choices. It operates in a dynamic context and is therefore flexible enough to be modified according to the needs of the problem.
