Laser-based inspection of tubing
Article Abstract:
A laser-based inspection system for pipes having smallinside diameters has been developed by QUEST Integrated Inc. These equipment which can be used for tubes with diameters of 7 mm can accurately measure up to25 microns and show results as digital readouts or topographical surface maps. This technology can be used for boiler tube inspections, gun tube inspections, measurement of internally threaded parts and other applications requiring non-destructive evaluation techniques.

Automated inspection system limitations
Article Abstract:
Companies looking for an appropriate automated inspection system (AIS) for surface mount technology usage are advised to consider the new NASA study on various inspection methods. The study shows that AIS can augment but not substitute manual inspection for low-volume, high-reliability surface mount solder joints. Some of the advantages of AIS include labor efficiency, cost-effeciency, repeatability and accuracy.
