The terrestrial phosphorus economy of mid-Pacific atolls: implications for the future

Article Abstract:

Human population increases and changing land usages are altering the systemic balances of mid-Pacific atoll environments. Although atoll biogeochemical systems are dynamic and adjust to change, research has shown that biotic phosphorus capitals and imports are affecting biogenic waste routes. This could degrade natural resources such as fresh groundwater.
