Companies which enter into a strategic alliance with another firm in order to take advantage of organizational strengths and economies of scale should be aware of the employment law risks inherent in such a partnership. A partnership is treated under the law as a single enterprise and the business entities operating the enterprise is regarded as joint employers. The most important personnel issues to address are equal employment opportunity concerns, employee benefit issues and accretion issues.

Canfibre begins accepting waste wood
Article Abstract:
Canfibre Group Ltd. has started using waste wood materials from construction and demolition sites as feedstock. The company's medium density fiber board facility gets its feedstock from Apollo Wood Recovery and Sunset Fibre. Canfibre will stock up on its waste wood supply in preparation for its fiber board production in May or June 1999. The company expects to consume about 40 truckloads or 400 to 500 tons daily of waste wood, once its processing facilities become fully operational.

Magnetics: a time-tested separating method

Magnetic equipment used in the waste recycling and processing industry comes in many different forms and types. Large drum magnets are one of the most widely used waste sorting equipment, having been used for many years to separate steel and iron from other materials in scrap metal yards. Suspended belt magnets are employed in many industries to recover tramp iron from the material burden, preventing damage to crushers and other processing equipment.
