Bin there ... done that ... and residents love it
Article Abstract:
The Recycling Education Program of Penn State Cooperative Extension implemented the two-year Bin In Your Neighborhood backyard composting programme in 1997. This programme began by running free workshops for residents of Montgomery County, PA, on reducing, reusing and recycling organic debris. Participants received a discount coupon for a composting bin. A compost quiz was also introduced for those unable to attend a workshop. By the end of the programme in autumn 1998, more than 900 households had become eligible for a bin coupon, and 733 coupons were redeemed for bins or bin building supplies.

California wineries take major steps to improve vineyards
Article Abstract:
An increasing number of vineyard managers have begun using compost and mulch in their grape management programs. According to research, compost suppresses a host of disease, such as phylloxera, which commonly attacks the root of the crops. The growing popularity of produce grown naturally is also convincing vineyard managers to use compost and mulch more. Lastly, these natural fertilizers likewise provide crops with nutrients, such as nitrogen, and have been known to loosen heavy soils and increase yields.
