Biogas recovery in Denmark
Article Abstract:
The application of animal manure to agricultural lands became evident in Denmark when the first biogas plants were erected in the country by the early 1980s. The centralized biogas plants were established as cooperatives with farmers who brought manure to the plants. Some of the advantages realized by the plants included better fertilization, less gas emission, and environmentally friendly waste recycling. The heat was utilized for the district heating of villages and towns in Denmark.

Differences between being ?adsorbed? and ?absorbed?
Article Abstract:
Two key terms in waste management are "adsorbed" and "absorbed" which describe different physical and chemical processes. While adsorption occurs on particle surfaces, absorption involves volume or mass. A comparative illustration is the clinging of cobwebs to a wall versus the drawing in of water by a sponge.

Biogas replaces natural gas for vehicles
Article Abstract:
Methane gas generated from dairy manure offers a substitute natural gas that can power motor vehicles. Biomethane is cost-competitive with natural gas and diesel, and improves air quality, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, improves water quality and strengthens rural economies.
