Composting horse manure in twin city region
Article Abstract:
Gale Woods Farm and Hennepin County's Department of Environmental Services are partners in an innovative project that collects horse manure from local farms, composts it and educates horse owners and municipalities about the benefits of composting. To improve soil fertility, the project demonstrates best manure management methods while getting private industry, local government and landowners to work together.

Ieper's anaerobic waste treatment plant not only produces enough energy to meet its own thermal and electrical energy demand, but it also feeds more than 50 percent of its total generated electricity into the electric utility grid system. It also provides enough 'green' electricity for 2,000 homes.
