Contaminated land receives quick remediation
Article Abstract:
TGG Environmental Inc., the Needham, MA-based consultant in a groundwater remediation project in Boston, MA, was able to accomplish the project with the aid of CleanOX Environmental Services Inc. of Chatham, NJ. CleanOX was able to finish the job in only four days with the use of a process similar to Fenton chemistry. The process is capable of creating hydroxyl radicals at the site of application that are capable of binding the contaminants in groundwater.

Packaged controls drive water plant pumps

Schneider Automation Inc's Pump-Pak control system has been effectively applied to a water treatment facility in Midwest City, OK. The pre-engineered, fully-integrated pump control system features AC drive components and electrical controls contained in NEMA cabinets. The system has two programmable logic controllers, two reduced-voltage starters, six variable frequency drives and computer programs necessary for multi-pump and closed-loop operations.

Largest U.S. seawater desalination plant coming to Tampa Bay
Article Abstract:
The Tampa Bay Water Board (TBWB) has awarded a $95-million contract to Stone and Webster Engineering Corp affiliate S and W Water LLC to design, construct, own and operate the largest seawater desalination plant in the US. TBWB directors approved the final water purchase agreement for the plant for 25 million gallons of water per day. Under the contract, the agency will also have the option to purchase the plant at a later date.
