From sludge management to biosolids recycling
Article Abstract:
The Northwest Biosolids Management Assn. (NBMA) has been largely responsible for the recognition of biosolids as a valuable commodity, especially in the states of Washington and Oregon. The NBMA was established in 1987 in order to counteract the false perceptions that were responsible for the closure of several biosolids recycling projects. Through its diverse network, the NBMA is able to inform the public regarding the common waste management problems and goals of each community. The NBMA is also involved in research projects dealing with farming, forestry, land reclamation and compost use.
