How to succeed with pay as you throw
Article Abstract:
The pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) solid waste management system is considered a successful program because it has lessened municipal solid waste costs, increased recycling and lessened waste generation. The PAYT system is currently being used by more than 4,000 communities in the US. In this system, residents pay for trash collection according to the amount of waste they throw away. A PAYT program can become successful if it is intended to generate cost savings, recycling facilities are accessible to a community and the program has the support of the community.
