Calixthe Beyala: entre le terroir et l'exil
Article Abstract:
Calixthe Beyala considers herself an African writer even though she has lived in Europe for some years. She is very prolific, having in less than ten years published six novels. Beyala is also very controversial, saying that the language she uses comes from the West African slums of her childhood but admitting some people could find the language and choice of topics shocking. Beyala considers herself a feminist and observes that working women have two jobs because they do the housework as well. The text of the interview is in French.
