Keys to safe grinder operation: Sensible guidelines and proper equipment are fundamental to prudent use of large grinders
Article Abstract:
Grinders are continuing to be improved for speed and efficiency of organics recycling. Manufacturers have also enhanced equipment with safety features. It is important when operating a grinder to follow the vendor guidelines for operation and maintenance. The main hazard is the ejection of objects from the unit, and it is also important to remove potential contaminants prior to grinding. Dust and bioaerosols are health hazards associated with grinding, and masks are standard at most operations.
