Losing ground
Article Abstract:
Polyethylene, also known as #1 PET, is being produced more than it is recycled, causing a shortage in the recycling of various products, especially soft drink bottles. Many companies must get approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) when producing their products. One company that has done well in meeting FDA standards is Coca-Cola, which incorporates high amounts of recyclabe material in their bottles. Steps are being taken to increase the recycling of #1 PET products.
