Optimal bid selection for dichotomous choice contingent valuation surveys
Article Abstract:
A study to construct an efficient model that finds the optimal vector of bid amounts and optimal allocation of the total sample along the bid amounts in the framework of the survey design problem for the dichotomous choice contingent valuation method was conducted. Results indicate that the model constructed uses an iterative procedure and is nonparametric in nature. It is statistically sound. The quality of pretest information should be high to provide a good sampling plan.

An independent sample test of yea-saying and starting point bias in dichotomous-choice contingent valuation
Article Abstract:
The convergent validity of the dichotomous choice and payment care methods for the contingent valuation of environmental goods and services is tested using diagnostic tools such as censored regression, completely censored regression, maximum-likelihood tests, Monte Carlo simulation and a direct test for yea-saying and starting point bias. Results indicate that the two value elicitation methods had varying willingness-to-pay distributions and mean values.

Specification tests for mixed demand systems with an emphasis on combining contingent valuation and revealed data
Article Abstract:
The conditions under which welfare measurements can be used in most environmental goods and their implications are investigated. The presence of both market and nonmarket goods determine the conditions for the existence of a rational preference structure. Specification tests are proposed to assist in simplifying functional forms and in determining the factors that are necessary in the demand system.
