Organics cart and container trends
Article Abstract:
The source separated recyclable organics collection programs implemented in San Francisco Bay area, Seattle, Washington region has started new trend among cart manufacturers to design countertop containers. Cart manufacturers design the containers with wheels, handles and bars to enhance movement of heavy organics from the points of generation to the loading docks or waste collection areas.

Measuring diversion, recycling progress
Article Abstract:
Many states in the U.S. have developed a variety of tools and methods to calculate diversion and recycling rates and have set up recycling grant programs based on the recycled tonnages. Census data can be entered into the web-based tools called Re-TRAC system and recycling trends can be analyzed based on various socioeconomic factors.
