Piles, tunnels or digesters? Dutch green waste options
Article Abstract:
The Netherlands plans to deal with its domestic waste by imposing regulations on the separation of organic waste. Vegetable, fruit and garden waste (VFG) comprise almost half of the five million tons of household refuse produced by Dutch residents. Composting and anaerobic digestion plants will be constructed to manage VFG which hopefully will reduce the heavy metal content of compost converted from these residuals.
