Plastic beer bottles enter market

Miller Brewing Co of Milwaukee, WI, has released its plastic beer bottles in the entire US. The beer maker, which debuted the plastic bottles at selected US metropolitan areas in Oct 1998, said that enthusiastic retailer demand for the recyclable plastic bottles have prompted the nationwide release. Miller claims that the plastic bottles are capable of keeping beer cold longer compared to aluminum cans and perform comparably with glass bottles.

Glass Recycling Technologies Ltd, a subsidiary of Minpro International Ltd, is working on projects in several Florida counties that divert broken, three-colored mixed waste glass from landfills. The company reclaims glass and processes it to particle sizes ranging from sand to talcum powder, which can be used in reflective paints or paint thickeners, landscape and golf coursse construction, or by the abrasives industry.

Miller Brewing Co of Milwaukee, WI, has released its beer products packaged in plastic bottles in Oct 1998, in time with St Patrick's Day and the increased alcohol consumption associated with this holiday. The company included new plastic caps on the beer bottles and new labels, both of which were designed to enhance the acceptance of packages into current recycling streams.
