Policies for green design
Article Abstract:
A general equilibrium framework was developed in an effort to evaluate the correlation between manufacturing requirements and social cost of disposal. Unlike conventional environmental paradigms, the proposed model embodies the entire life cycle of a particular product, while taking account of the price and tax rates involved in the process. If consumers are allowed to levy social disposal charges to manufacturers, therefore firms may be compelled to use less packaging materials. The use of recyclable materials may also be promoted by rendering additional corporate tax charges.
