Thriving compost industry has "long way to go": United Kingdom
Article Abstract:
The latest survey into the status of biological waste treatment in the United Kingdom (UK) has shown that compost is playing a vital role in increasing the amount of waste recycled but there is still a long way to go for British composting. The survey shows that there is going to be a major capacity shortfall for composting in the UK, especially for the in-vessel plants needed to treat catering waste and a number of facilities need to be built to manage the amounts of waste needed for the country to meet the targets set for it by the European Union Landfill Directive.

Residential organics collection options
Article Abstract:
The City Council in Wayzata, Minnesota, in May 2005, voted to add organics collection to its curbside recycling program, which made the western suburb the first city in the metro area to provide such a service. The system is designed to reduce monthly collection fees to households that change to every-other-week garbage collection.
