USDA cafeteria tests biobased products
Article Abstract:
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) began a pilot project with the vision to overcome the challenge of advancing federal cafeteria facilities acquisition and use of biobased cafeteria ware. At a small USDA headquarters cafeteria the full scale cafeteria test of biobased, biodegradable food service products such as cups, plates, cutlery was conducted and then composting it with food scraps, leftovers and out of date foods was done to study its impact on food residuals.
