A positive learning curve: record numbers of middle-class Hispanics are enrolling in college, despite escalating costs
Article Abstract:
A study from the American Council of Education indicates that the number of Hispanics enrolled in college grew by 202% from 1976 to 1996. Moreover, 1,260,000 Hispanics were enrolled in college in 1998. While college enrollment continues to climb in the Hispanic community, the demographic's high-school dropout rate remains high at 30% for 16-24-year-olds in 1998.
