A positive learning curve: record numbers of middle-class Hispanics are enrolling in college, despite escalating costs

Article Abstract:

A study from the American Council of Education indicates that the number of Hispanics enrolled in college grew by 202% from 1976 to 1996. Moreover, 1,260,000 Hispanics were enrolled in college in 1998. While college enrollment continues to climb in the Hispanic community, the demographic's high-school dropout rate remains high at 30% for 16-24-year-olds in 1998.

And Fred Ruiz, Chairman of the company says that the company has been able to buck the downward trend in manufacturing because of the introduction of Mexican food into new territories.
