Bottom line keeps growing: Two construction companies share the challenges and successes of rapid growth

New Era Builders Inc., a small, public-project-focused commercial contractor, based in Cleveland, grew 27.6 percent in 2005 to $23 million, ranking as number 215 on the Hispanic Business 500, and expects a more significant increase in 2006, to about $40 million. Dallas-based Azteca Enterprises Inc., a construction and general contracting firm, focused on government, military and university projects, is five-times as large, expanding by a huge 67 percent in 2005, to place at number 55 on the Hispanic Business 500.
