CAFTA passes
Article Abstract:
The Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) passed the US House by one of the slimmest margins ever, with most Hispanic members voting along party lines, Republicans supporting it and Democrats voting against it with the exception three Texas Democrats. The agreement made by the US with Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic allows many imports to enter the US free of tariffs and vice versa, and facilitates investment in the region.

Supreme pros and cons
Article Abstract:
US Hispanic groups are divided on their views about the confirmation of President George Bush's nominee John Roberts to the Supreme Court. A coalition of national Hispanic groups, including the League of United Latin American Legal Defense and Educational fund came out against him saying that his confirmation would not advance justice for Latinos while Florida Republican Senator Mel Martinez and the United States Hispanic Chamber of commerce have expressed support for him.
