The startup as family affair

Article Abstract:

Hiring family members for a new business venture has advantages and disadvantages. Family members may sometimes be paid less than outside employees. They may also appreciate and understand management's efforts to succeed. Business owner's dreams of establishing a legacy may be shared with children who become involved in the business. Family members may sometimes, though, feel entitled to special considerations such as flexible work schedules and access to cash resources. They may also not be able to carry out the job duties as required.
