Boundary ambiguity and coparental conflict after divorce: an empirical test of a family systems model of the divorce process
Article Abstract:
Mothers and fathers experience similar levels of financial strain, emotional intensity, boundary ambiguity, satisfaction with parenting performance and coparental conflict after divorce, according to research empirically testing a family systems-based model of postdivorce coparenting. However, the factors that affect boundary redefinition between former spouses are different for each group. In the case of mothers, the emotional intensity and the power and control variables are strong predictors of boundary ambiguity. For fathers, the only predictor of boundary ambiguity in the postdivorce period is the level of emotional intensity left in the relationship with the former spouse.

Convergence and divergence in ethnic divorce patterns: a research note
Article Abstract:
A behavioral convergence model considers group preferences for divorce and convergence between them as the factors responsible for the divorce rates in marriages across ethnic lines. The marriages between individuals from different ethnic backgrounds are more likely to end in a divorce than those between individuals from the same background. Models of convergent behavior have wide applications in explaining the divorce patterns in marriages that cross religious, racial and educational lines.
