Designing constructive therapies in community mental health: poetics and micropolitics in and beyond the consulting room
Article Abstract:
Existing mental health practices are typically based on academic principles grounded in a traditional-technical rational epistemology of professional practices that is based on disciplinary knowledge focused on abstract and supposedly well defined, clear and distinct subjects with methods specific to the study of those subjects. It is argued that professional practice based on this paradigm is asystemic, disembodied and non-reflective. A model for the concept of therapy as design is discussed.
