Family and psychosocial predictors of obsessive compulsive disorder in a community sample of young adolescents
Article Abstract:
A report on the two-stage epidemiologic study of a community population of young adolescents in the southeastern United States conducted between 1986 and 1988 by Garrison, Jackson, Addy, McKeon and Waller has been given. This study investigated family and psychological predictors of obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD) and subclinical OCD in young adolescents. Family cohesion was the only significant correlate of OCD in multivariate models (odds ratio= 0.95). Gender, race, age, socioeconomic status and undesirable life events were not found to be significant predictors of OCD.
