Socioeconomic differences in having living parents and children: a U.S.-British comparison of middle-aged women
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the socioeconomic aspects of middle-aged women in the US and Britain who have their own children and living parents. Findings suggest that for both countries, a greater socioeconomic status is associated with less children or childlessness, and a greater probability of having parents that are living.

Family environment and adolescents' well-being before and after parents' marital disruption: a longitudinal analysis
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns how marital disruption and divorce impacts adolescents as a continuous process with different phases. Findings suggest that boys and girls from disrupted families tend to show more psychological, academic, and behavioral problems than their peers with parents that remain married.

A response to Katherine Allen's article "A Conscious and Inclusive Family Studies" (2000) is presented, focusing on the methodology of family theory and research. How issues of postmodernism, reflexivity, morality, and objectivity influence family studies are discussed.
