Murdoch tightens grip on TV broadcasts of U.K. soccer
Article Abstract:
British Sky Broadcasting has acquired the rights to the English Football League Cup and Football League Championship for five years from the 1996/97 season, for $200 million. The agreement between Sky, the Football League and ITV, which had an option on the League games, gives Sky exclusive rights to broadcast up to 60 Football League matches live every season. Sky, which is controlled by Rupert Murdoch, already has the live rights to matches in the Football Association's Premier League and thus has the live broadcasting rights to nearly all English and Scottish first class professional soccer.

The Western Front: where gunslinging students live out the myth of heroic violence
Article Abstract:
Western motion pictures embody heroic individualism, showing problems solved with violence. Westerns such as "Shane," and "The Wild Bunch," and all of John Wayne's movies depict rugged loners who walk in to saloons to shoot the enemy. They practiced ethnic cleansing by killing off the Indians. The Westerns are still being acted out in real life as in Ruby Ridge, Waco and Oklahoma.
