A closer look at South Africa
Article Abstract:
South Africa has had a large, well-established wine industry since international sanctions against the country were lifted in 1991. However, the wines themselves were poor and did not stand up to competition. Recent releases are much improved. A guide to the best of the South African wine region and profiles of the 5 leading wineries is presented.

Buena Vista celebrates 140th anniversary with a vintage costume ball
Article Abstract:
About 220 partygoers wore period costumes to a Sep 1997 masquerade ball in honor of the 140th anniversary of the oldest premium winery in California. Dances were performed by the Stanford University Dance Ensemble.
