A growing mystery
Article Abstract:
Wine labels of estate bottles list the name of the grower who grew the grapes that were made into wine but it may not be entirely accurate. More vintners are buying their grapes from other sources and adding a portion of the wine made from the grapes with their own grapes. Such practice allows them to make more wine and sell it at the same price as wine made completely from the grower's grapes.

Slipperiness at the Smithsonian

The Smithsonian Institution held a two-day seminar on wine, which featured a speaker who seemed to know nothing about wine culture. The speaker was an American Studies department head who cited misleading statistics. Wine culture is alive in both Europe and the US.
