Asia Pacific snack market booming
Article Abstract:
The Asia Pacific market for savoury snack foods is very competitive, with both Procter and Gamble and Frito-Lay performing well in the region. The value of potato chips sales was $3.4 billion in 1997, an increase of 10.4% since 1993. Potato chips have a 41.4% share of the savoury snack market. Total sales of snack foods in the region were worth $8.1 billion in 1997, from $6.03 billion in 1993. The value of the snack market in India has grown by 23.4% between 1993-97. The Japanese market for savoury snacks was worth $3,827.6 million in 1997 although it has only grown by 2.7% since 1993.

Dutch confectionery sales show unexpected growth
Article Abstract:
The article explains how Dutch sales of confectionery, biscuits and snacks, including potato crisps, grew on average 4.5% in value and 1% in volume in the first six months of 1999. All product categories helped the sales growth, with sugar confectionery and biscuits achieving the highest growth figures. The reason for the sales growth, as well as export figures, are included.
