American wine drinkers are very enthusiastic over the high quality wines that are being produced in Australia. Its cabernet sauvignons and chardonnays are definitely improving. The editor's choice is the Rosemount Coonawarra Show Reserve 1992 cabernet sauvignon.

An evaluation is presented of the cost of Australian wines in the United States, with the observation that retail prices are far higher compared to those for the same wines in Australia. Mark-ups and shipping account for some, but not all of the difference.

Incomparable Grange

Article Abstract:

A vertical tasting of Grange Hermitage from 1955 to 1996 was undertaken by about 36 wine lovers in Oct 1996. About half of the vintages fall into the category of excellent. Wines are rated on a scale of one to 100, with tasting notes and prices provided.
