Breaking down Napa Valley

Article Abstract:

The wine industry in Napa Valley, CA, is broken into three areas, based on the appelations produced. Approved districts on the valley floor are Oakville, Rutherford and Stags Leap District, while the status of the St. Helena district is pending. The Calistoga district is not recognized by the wine industry. Vintners and the wine character for the valley floor, mountain area and Pope Valley are described.

Article Abstract:

Rock musician Sammy Hagar began collecting wine in 1977 after tasting 1927 Martinez Port. He now boasts an 8,800-bottle collection that includes a wide range of notable reds and whites. About 30% of his collection is made up of California wines, another 30% Bordeaux, 20% Burgundy, and a variety of Pinot Noirs, Barolos and Brunellos. Hagar also collects Tequila.
