Casino sales down slightly in 1994

Casino of France, a retail group, has reported a slight fall in 1994 sales following its purchase of the Rallye supermarket chain in 1992. However the group's own outlets including Geant, Casino and Petit Casino all improved their performances.The Rallye outlets are being converted into Casino format outlets and the group plans expansion into overseas markets during 1995. It is already in negotiations with Corse Distribution of France.

Meinl growing in Hungary

The Hungarian subsidiary of Austrian retailer Julius Meinl has reported the best ever results in its nine-year history. Turnover rose 26% to HFt89.9bn (?? 359.6m) in 1998, generating improved pre-tax profits of HFt850m.
