Chateau Margaux winemaker ventures Rioja
Article Abstract:
Marques de Riscal, a popular producer of wine in Spain's Rioja region, has hired Paul Pontallier, who currently serves as a technical director for Bordeaux first-growth Chateau Margaux, as consultant. The 41-year-old Pontallier is expected to consult on all red wine production at Riscal's winery in El Ciego, Spain. Riscal already produces a red, Baron de Chirel Reserva, which is made from 60% Tempranillo and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Pontallier is also involved in the Raphael project in Long Island, NY, and in a joint venture winery, called Domaine Paul Bruno, in Chile.
