Coffee with a conscience
Article Abstract:
An increasing number of Americans in the early 21st century are asking for coffee that is grown in an environmentally friendly manner and that is picked and processed by farmers who are paid a living wage. Socially conscious coffees that are Fair Trade Certified as well as those from the Shade Grown coffee movement and the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA) take into consideration factors such as sustainability, labor conditions, and community involvement and also guarantees farmers a minimum price for their coffee.
