UK beef consumption on the increase again
Article Abstract:
Figures from the UK's Ministry of Agriculture show that beef and veal consumption continued to rise at the end of 1996, although total consumption fell by 16% during the year. The National Food Survey also reveals that consumption of chicken and turkey rose by 8% during the year, with fish consumption up 7%. Bread consumption for 1996 remained static, although consumption of cereal products and cakes rose during the year.

UK public in favour of store development clamp-down
Article Abstract:
A new survey from Key Note suggests that shoppers in the UK continue to support the corner shop, with over 75% of those questioned agreeing that supermarket development should be restricted. The survey of more than 1,000 consumers also reveals that more than 56% of shoppers use loyalty cards, while 40% also use credit or debit cards for food shopping.
