EBS "not optimistic" about 1996
Article Abstract:
French starch, sugar and oils group Eridania Beghin Say (EBS) reported a 26.3% rise in net profits for 1995 to 1.5 billion French francs, but EBS Pres Stefano Meloni is pessimistic about its prospects in 1996. Fluctuations in the exchange rate caused reductions in sales and profits. Restructuring of some divisions, including Provimi, the animal nutrition unit, helped improve performance, although there was a decline in profit margins in the Cerestar starch division.
