Ecological aesthetics: a handsome new restaurant sets high standards for energy efficient design

Article Abstract:

The desire to combine sound environmental principles with a top quality restaurant, resulted in the opening of Mudd's Restaurant and an accompanying ecology community resource center in San Ramon, California. The design of the building incorporates energy efficient factors such as passive solar techniques. Water conservation is enhanced with Swedish toilets. Menus items are drawn from local organically grown foods.

The renovated hotel kitchen

Article Abstract:

Renovating and updating old style hotel kitchens is an important part of present hotel construction. The facilities must be reconstructed to support the needs of modern hotel food service. Utilities must be reevaluated and often equipment replaced. Fire prevention, ventilation and energy conservation factors must all be reviewed.
