First-growths at auction not necessarily first
Article Abstract:
The first-growths of Bordeaux considered as the undeniable stars of the 1855 Classification are often placed second to other Bordeaux chateaus in terms of their relative appreciation. The reason behind first-growths being outpaced by others is because they are very expensive on release and they lack the growing potential of less-expensive growths.

New auction index
Article Abstract:
The data from U.S. auctions alone will be used to calculate the auction index from 2005 because of the modifications in the global set-up of the wine-auction business, and to promote accuracy and value of auction reports. Listings show an increase of 13 percent due to the strong position of Bordeaux and other wines.
