Iceland of the UK, a frozen food specialist, has seen a fall in interim pre tax profit of 11%, on sales up just 0.4%. This is attributed to competition in the UK food retail market. However the company will continue with its strategy of reinforcing its position as the only frozen food specialist retailer in the UK. It has increased new product development and it will continue with investment in new stores and refurbishments.
