Italian pasta groups in US agreements
Article Abstract:
Italian pasta manufacturer Barilla is to set up a production facility in the US, where it already has a strong export presence. This is likely to be close to its US headquarters in Chicago, but it is possible that it could be located in Indiana or Iowa. Having a production unit in the US will allow the company to avoid the large duties levied by the US on imports of pasta from Europe. Fellow Italian pasta manufacturer Malgara is to make its Cuore pasta brand available in the US, while Jolly Sgambaro, another Italian pasta manufacturer, is to supply Knorr with its technology for reducing cooking time.

Italian pasta strengthens position in stagnant German market
Article Abstract:
Italian pasta producers are rapidly gaining market share in the German market, according to a recent market survey. The German market is facing falling turnover, price pressures and an expanding presence of own-brands.
