Latin American chilled food market heats up
Article Abstract:
Latin American chilled food sales reached $32.7 billion in 1995, a 37% rise from 1991. Some 50% of the sector was made up of dairy products. Chilled desserts achieved the highest growth rate at 80%, while chilled meat sales rose more than 44%. The industry growth was attributed to changes in working habits, improved purchasing power and greater market penetration of freezers and refrigerators.
