Long Island rolls out the barrels

Over 1,000 people attended the 1995 event featuring wines from 15 local vintners and local cuisine held on Aug 19, 1995, at Jamesport Vineyards. Funds raised from the event will go to University Medical Center at Stony Brook for Lyme disease research.

Hail in Bordeaux hits Margaux hardest
Article Abstract:
An August 1992 hailstorm damaged approximately 750 acres of Margaux vineyards. Medoc and Haut-Medoc also lost vines to the storm. Actual damage to Chateau Margaux was not heavy, affecting only a small percentage of the vineyards.

Long Island spared brunt of hurricane

Little damage occurred at Long Island vineyards when Hurricane Bob struck. Despite 90 mph winds, vintners expect to begin the harvest in early fall, as originally scheduled.
